Facebook recently came up with its Facebook Portal Go device which is a mobile device that is powered by two of the major chatting platforms of Facebook, that is WhatsApp and Messenger. The 10 inch display of Facebook Portal Go has a control bar mounted on its top which can be used to turn the camera on and off. The device comes wrapped in a soft grey fabric which feels extremely great in the hands. The device is highly portable and boasts of features like eye comfort, night mode and automatic brightness adjustment.

The 12 megapixel wide angle lens keeps you at the center of any video call which is important. You will need to have a Facebook account to use this device and the device can be taken from one place to another without facing any issues about colour and lighting.

The user interface of Facebook Portal is better than expected. It comes with a Household mode which makes it convenient for the people in your home to use the device more responsibly. You can activate the device and command it to do anything by just saying “Hey, Portal!”.

According to ActiveNoon, there are two major contenders which can give Facebook Portal Go a run for its money and they are already doing so quite efficiently. Amazon’s Echo Show 8 and Google’s Nest Hub Max are leading the competition in every aspect. They have got everything right about mobile devices that can be used for a number of purposes. Facebook Portal Go doesn’t offer streaming platform services like Hulu, Netflix and Prime Video. And to make things worse for Facebook, the pricing of Echo Show 8 is way more effective than Portal Go. The camera technology used in both these devices is the same as that of Facebook Portal Go, which makes them a better option over Facebook Portal Go.

5. FINAL VERDICT

The final verdict on this device from our side is that it is a decent device, but it could have been much much better. The device could have been considered if Google and Amazon weren’t there in the market with their amazing gadgets. Also, the device is only good for using WhatsApp and Messenger. Lastly, the privacy problem of Facebook is still not solved so we do not really recommend this device to anyone. It will be 2 out of 5 for this one.
