You should be able to narrow down a few specifics about your idea client. These specifics include:

- Average income
- Interests
- Location
- Typical occupation
When you know your ideal customer base, you can tailor your content to reach that audience. One rule for all content, regardless of who your audience is, is to be unique. Unique content is much more valuable to your audience. Figure out what is valuable to them and make content to cater to it. Think about the types of content that you would like to see on social media. Stay active with the connections that you do have. If you are communicative and post regularly, then people are more likely to follow and try to engage with you.
While you want to maintain some professionalism, remember to be relatable. When you are a smaller company, you will most likely have a following that believes in your products or services. One way to keep that momentum is to let people know that you value their opinions. Let them see that there is a human element behind your company. Be personalized with your responses on social media. If someone believes that they are being responded to by a person that doesn’t care, or worse, a robot, they may engage less. If you can engage in real-time and personalize your responses, you may see a spike in engagement.

So you are creating a social media marketing strategy, how can you track it? How do you know if you are reaching your social media goals? To track your brand awareness, take a look at your follower counts, your reach of social media posts and shares that you receive. How often are your posts being shared or liked? How many people are engaging with the content? While you can try to track these numbers on your own, there are also software tools that can measure your engagement, the traffic to your website and more. How Can You Compete on Social Media?
Like all forms of marketing, you do have to keep your competition in mind when preparing your strategy. Find out how your competitors are using social media. Are they doing well? You can use this information to your advantage.
For example, if one of your competitors is popular on Instagram but does not have a large Facebook engagement, look for an opening in that market. Focus more on Facebook so that you can receive the engagement from that platform. You want to look at where your audience might be underserved. You can use social media listening to find out more about other companies. Just keep an eye on your competitors by searching for them on social media and find out what people are sharing or saying about the company.
Nowadays, you cannot ignore your social media presence. If you want to build a successful business, you can’t ignore the importance of social media marketing. Nearly everyone is online. The internet is often how people find new businesses and choose to support them.
